For Professionals

TRAUMA TALK
A free, online group for professionals to chat about the tried and tested and new advances in the world of trauma treatment
WHAT is it?
A Professional Book Group of sorts
Each month we will select an article, research paper or book (or selection of chapters) to read and discuss. Something manageable – who has time to read a book in a month! The objective is to learn more about trauma and share opinions for either pure interest or to integrate into our practice. Think of it as a book group for trauma. The written work will be a start point, but with no specific agenda, this should allow for some great chat and debate.
WHEN is it?
The last Tuesday evening of each month for an hour
This is of course greatly dictated by my schedule and I’ve no idea how many – if anybody – will come so don’t be put off by this. Also, as each group stands alone, it is an open group so you can come once, four times or 12 in a year, whatever suits you.
WHO is it for?
Clinicians working with Trauma
Therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, social workers with the one caveat that you have a professional qualification that enables you to provide treatment for people affected by trauma. I am a CBT and EMDR trained therapist and have been working in the field of trauma for some time but this isn’t just a group for similar. I’d love for this group to cross professional strands and modalities as well as levels of experience.
What it is NOT
This is not supervision, case discussion or CPD
You can absolutely draw from the client work you do, anonymously, but the point of the group is to share opinions, resources and knowledge not to train others or come from a point of saying what is right or wrong. The beauty of this group is that it is for any level of knowledge or skill. It is not a how to or a competition between modalities.
